*265 - primary ONE class gathering

The weather was mocking us on Wednesday.

We changed our BBQ plans because of the imminent rain, but it didn't rain. In fact, the weather was so lovely that we ended up chatting under the open skies that night.

I met Huilin and Kerrie at NTUC, and silly Bryon was so late that he turned up some 20 minutes after we had completed our shopping. Cabbed to Huilin's place, realised that it was ridiculously early, and settled down to watch a very sweet movie (One Fine Day?).

Then the food preparations began. Kerrie and Huilin were sweating at the back BBQing the satay, while Bryon and I wreaked havoc in the kitchen. Behold, my most bimbotic moment that night -

Evelyn: (holds up fruit) Can I ask you something stupid. Is this an apple?
Bryon: No it's a pear.

Well my excuse is that the pear, albeit yellow and dotty, was particularly apple-shaped! It couldn't get much more apple-ish than that really!!

Anyway a lot of funny things happened like our chicken chunks refusing to thaw (instructions said to bake at 160 degrees for 10 minutes; we baked them at 200 degrees for about half an hour), our chopped apples in the salad oxidising (we tried to camouflage the brown-ness with salad dressing), our grilled chicken wings producing sparks and gentle exploding noises, and generally a lot of screaming (from me) and mini disasters.

I still believe we're the coolest Primary One kids around - have you ever heard of anyone else having P1 class gatherings? Hehehe. In general, the evening was fabulously entertaining, and the most common phrase of the night must have been "who are you" or "who's that"! Everyone has changed, but then again, everyone hasn't, and it was just so amazing to see how everybody turned out nearly a decade after we parted ways.

There was a lot of gossiping too and a note-worthy point was that I found out the rumour (Anthony if you're reading this you will know which rumour I'm talking about) actually made its way to even Hwa Chong. Haha.

(But that's irrelevant.)

What I mean to say is that we had an amazing time reminiscing the good old days (and realising now that Ai Tong teachers were very violent and brutal indeed) and finding out how everyone has changed, or not.

A lot of laughter, a lot of nostalgia.

It was a lovely night, really (:
