*245 - back from bangkok!

It was mostly a shopping trip for us. Didn't buy and spend as much as expected though - Mummy & Daddy were shocked at the wad of cash I handed back to them and at the fact that my suitcase wasn't stuffed full, unlike the others who had to bring out their extra bags. It's not that I'm thrifty (well, I am, but everything was so cheap anyway that being thrifty didn't even come into the picture) but more that I'm a very, very fussy shopper. But still, I'm pretty delighted at the stuff I got (: Everyone spent more than me by far though! Hehe.

It was a great experience being alone with a few friends in a foreign country, sourcing out the best deals, bargaining as hard as we could, speeding around dangerously on tuktuks, plunging into rows upon rows of shops, trying out the typical Thai dishes (tom yum, papaya salad, Thai noodles), dragging the poor boyfriends around, basically just going crazy with the shopping. If you're all about cheap shopping and can close an eye to the crappy quality (sometimes) and fake goods, then Bangkok's for you.

Really thank God for keeping us safe and sound - My Lonely Planet made it sound so terribly dangerous over there, but nobody got pickpocketted, nobody got diarrhoea or food poisoning, nobody got cheated, nobody got raped ... We all came out exhausted but otherwise quite unscathed (: Except that I had perpetual dizzy/queasy spells throughout the 3 days which made me feel a little drugged, but with a nice strong boyfriend to steady me as I tottered about, that didn't stop me from having my fun! So thankful for Justin (: He always looks after me and looks out for me (:

All that being said, I'm still pretty happy that I'm back home again (: Although I hate the idea of having to go prom shopping (everything was too crappy in Bangkok, nothing suitable for prom)! Prom is such a waste of money, really - I mean it's fun prettying up and all but I don't like the idea of spending so much to pretty up for a couple of hours of phototaking. Oh well, in Sec 4 I spent a very minimal amount of money (much less than the norm) on prom and I believe I didn't look half bad.

Spot me! Haha. Okay lah right. I shall try to pull off the minimal spending thing again. Narcissism and frugality tend to conflict, but not always for me :P
