*263 - a summary

Time to update about the past few days, or else I would never get around to doing it. I think it's going to be long.

FRIDAY

Cherlene, Evelyn and I decided that the dress code for the night would be dresses (ha ha am I funny?). We had dinner at New York New York, the place with the awesome green furniture and monster burgers that are as large as dinner plates, if not larger. Shared a plate of pasta and a meatball pizza (which I highly recommend - they were the juiciest meatballs I've ever tasted) and we were stuffed to the brim.

Watched La Sylphide, which is not worth talking about, and camwhored on the rooftop garden, disturbing all the couples who were making out. But I don't think they noticed us much. Hehehe.

Such a nice feeling remembering the old times, how we pretty much grew up together for 6+ years, all the time we spent doing the one thing we loved (ballet!), all the silly little things we used to do.

I need to pick ballet up again but I am stiff and old and I don't know where I can go.

SATURDAY

In our one year of running the business together, Elisa and I realised we had never once gone shopping together for jewellery supplies! We either go alone or order stuff online.

So we did! (: We were so happy that Elisa had to do a whirling dervish dance as I bounced into the air. Cool?

Desmond spotted me at the bus stop with Elisa while cycling past (but I didn't spot him!) and that lead to us deciding to meet at Vivocity for dinner & a movie - because he had free movie passes, and because we were both extremely swaku and were probably the last Singaporeans who hadn't been to Vivo (his excuse being NS, and mine being, well, sloth).

He was late in meeting me, and the reason was that he was busy chatting up another girl!! HAHA so mean to me.

Well, the movie plan didn't work out because there wasn't anything worth watching, so we walked around and got lost numerous times and settled for a Japanese charcoal grill dinner (that reminded me of Sinhui haha!) which he very kindly paid for (: We also shopped for his toiletries and between gross green body wash labelled "vitality" and deep luscious pink soap labelled "sensual", well, I thought the choice was obvious! :D

So now I can proudly say that I've been to Vivocity! And thank you Desmond for the treat (:

SUNDAY

The Boyfriend came back!! (: (: (:

I think he looks fabulously gay when he dresses up in a sexy shirt with those funky spectacles. Hehehe.

He returned with lots of nice presents but the biggest and best present is, of course, himself. Ooooh so pleased. Teeheehee end of mush.

MONDAY

Dancing with Maddy, who set the record by being one hour late. Hahaha. To end off the last class of the year, we played some crazy spinning game and competed to see who could turn the most. (I didn't win, nope. Hurtled off into the wall after a while.)

TUESDAY

... was the day Singapore set a new record - highest rainfall in 24 hours in 75 years! It was quite unbelievable to see what havoc the rain could wreak.

1. I awoke to rivers of muddy water running down my wall from the ceiling. They've been doing renovations on the roof, and the silly workers didn't cover up the holes properly, which meant that everything leaked through in the thunderstorm.

2. Justin's mummy chauffeured Justin, Jingwen and I to Maddy's house, but en route we were stopped by a flood along Upper Thomson Road, just a couple of bus stops down from my house. It was my first time seeing a flood in Singapore, and the water level was above the pavement (practically knee-deep)! It was so bad that we couldn't pass, and had to U-turn and make our way to her place from another direction.

(Can you see the submerged pavement? Way cool.)

3. On the way back from Maddy's place by bus, we spotted a good 3 or 4 accidents along the way. Smashed up cars (one with the windshield completely shattered through!) and lots of random vehicles floating around in the middle of the flood.

4. And then, just about 50 m in front of us, a tree fell!! It blocked the entire 3 lanes, and I'm just so thankful that it didn't fall a while later as we were travelling beneath it. Lots of strong men hopped out in the rain to help break off branches to clear the side lane, and it was actually quite heartening to see all these strangers lend a hand so readily. No, I didn't do anything to help, and yes, all I did was to stand in the bus and take photos like the useless bum I am.

According to the news, lots of trees fell yesterday, there were accidents galore, floods everywhere (even up to belt level!), landslides, shop houses collapsing, etc ... thank God the rain stopped this morning, not just because we're having a party later! But really, Singapore's not prepared for storms like that, if the rain hadn't stopped, we might be fully submerged by now.

The weather is beautiful at the moment though, it's very sunny and very chilly and it really reminds me of winter! It'll be showering later (according to the forecasts), but for now, ahh. (:

And yesterday, the Gourmet Network minus Shibani met up, but I'll save that for another post. I need to make earrings! Posting the 3rd batch of Christmas orders today, I hope to get at least 7 packages out. (:
