*302 - it's decaying right in front of me

like the carrion of a murdered prey
& all I want is to save you, honey
or the strength to walk away

*301 - panda

Tonight's one of those nights where I look into the mirror, wonder why my makeup ran so badly and why nobody told me about it, scrub at my eyes, and realise that it was actually the dark rings under my eyes.

Thank you darlings who were so concerned about me - I'm sorry but I'm not ready to talk about it yet. It is something that's chewing away at me, but I'm too scared to tell anybody about it. Yet.

It's only 9.30 but I'm going to sleep soon. I have an extremely long day tomorrow. The early rising and late sleeping cycle is pretty much killing me. Rising early for dance (have to wake up at 5 am for tomorrow's performance!! Hellozz that is, lyk, insane!!), sleeping late because of work and sometimes dance.

But it's okay because my God gives me rest and new strength for every day. And friends to hold me up.

(:

*300 - i'm sorry

Hesitated for half an hour.

Now what's going to happen?

:'(

*299 - bouncing grapes

I am chasing grapes around my plate with a fork. They are occasionally ricocheting off the edges of the plate and bouncing across my table.

The grapes are irrelevant.

What I actually want to say is that I need someone to confide in. I'm in a mess. All my life, or at least, for the past 2 and a half years, I've been running to you. Now that I need someone else to turn to, I'm all alone.

*298 - what am i to do?

I'm confused. So confused. I don't know what to do. Lord forgive me. Help me to do the right thing.

-

My new favourite sensation: hunger. Love that rumbly empty painful feeling and the subsequent glee when you fill up that tummy.

(By the way, I hate being fat.)

-

My work schedule next week is quite awful. In more ways than one. 10 am to 11 pm? Ohmygoodness. At least I'm clocking up the hours, and at least the people at work are superduper nice.

Incidentally, met Ziying working at Hog's Breath yesterday, right next door! Cool. She's too cute in that Hog's Breath cap and outfit. Hehe. In contrast, I'm not cute at all in my outfit. Sigh.

Met xY & Dan and Zan and Mavis and Justin & family and not-so-surprise visitor at work/just outside EB yesterday. Not a day has passed where I haven't met friends on the job. Pretty cool.

-

I'm confused. So confused. I don't know what to do. It's like my life has been thrown topsy turvy.

-

Let's think happy thoughts. Fashionistas please advise me: Are smocked tube dresses a good idea, or will I look pregnant in them? For instance, must I have the proportions of this Juicy Couture model before I would look un-pregnant?

-

Yeah. Still confused.

1. not circulating or flowing; "dead air"; "dead water"; "stagnant water"
2. not growing or changing; without force or vitality

*296 - intestines

Today, I:
- was half an hour late
- watched a horrible gory M18 show with a bad plot and nearly died when it got to the unravelling of intestines bit (no sausages for me for a while, thanks)
- discovered 'jujube' is the English name for Chinese dates, and jujube soda should really be avoided at all costs
- went for a Funk Jazz class which was very funky indeed
- had a great day with great company, to sum it up (:

Tomorrow, I:
- have to wake up at 6 something for a dance rehearsal, oh woe betide
- am working from 7 to 2
- will therefore not be able to meet Justin although he is booking out but I guess he needs some family time, and I will see him the next day
- will therefore also not be able to join the girls at the Hyatt

Discounting all the weariness from the rushing about, I'm having lots of fun being busy, and life is looking simply peachy. Mmm.

*295 - pickuptruck #2

There have been lots of flirtatious boys I've met on the job and here are some of the more memorable ones. Hahaha.

X: Hi, can I have a cup of water?
Y: Hi, can I have a piece of you?
X: (stares at Y) That was a bad one.
Y: (mutters to X) Hey, you started it first.
X: (to me) Sorry, don't mind him.

Z: (a lot of mundane chitchatting after calling me back to refill his cup 3 times in a row) ... So, are you attached?
Me: Hahaha. You guess leh?
Z: Yes? Because you're so pretty. (Later leaves a $1 tip. Haha how sweet, seeing that he's a little J1 kiddo!)

-

Joel stole my camera away to South Africa. And knowing how attached I am to my lousy little camera, you can imagine the emptiness I'm feeling right now.

Heh heh.

Actually, I need a new camera ASAP. (So much for being attached to it.) My lousy little camera is really getting very lousy and I can't bear it anymore. The only reason why my photos generally turn out pretty decent (I think, I don't know what you think though) is because of Photoshop. Someone gadget-savvy please advise me!!

*294 - extraordinary machine

If there was a better way to go then it would find me
I can't help it, the road just rolls out behind me
Be kind to me, or treat me mean
I'll make the most of it, I'm an extraordinary machine

(I <3 Fiona Apple - this has got to be her cutest song ever! Heeheehee. Her songs are always chock full of attitude.)

*293 - sun's in my heart & i'm ready for love

I'm so pleased with my little cartoons this time round, that I had to brag about them here. Shameless advertising for Elisa & Evelyn! The both of us have been much too busy to update regularly, so our dearest customers will have to make do with this teensy little addition to the site. Haven't even had the time to pretty up for one of our mini-photoshoots.

Hmm, shall we have a Valentines' Day promotion?? Must think about it.

Laoshi's dance practice tonight ruined my lovely plans for going for Jazz & Lyrical - my weekly dance fix that I'm pretty much addicted to! And she's calling for a rehearsal again next Monday night again. Yelp. Withdrawal. Need. To. Dance. (Tibetan and Thai dances not counted.)

On a related note, modern pas de deux sounds supremely exciting. I want I want I want!

On an unrelated note, I recently realised my eyes are not exactly the same shape. Either that, or my eyelids fold slightly differently. I've always known that my face is terribly unsymmetrical - and symmetry happens to be one of the fundamentals for beauty (or so they say). Aww, shucks. Hahaha. Too bad for me.

*292 - i can see your knickers

Hi werty I met some of my juniors there from long ago who, touchingly, still remember me. Who's this? (:

Hi Eunice of course I know you hehe (: My schedule changes from week to week, but for this coming week I'm working on Tuesday 6 - 11, Wednesday 6 - 12.30, Friday 7 - 2, Saturday 7 - 2. Pretty late huh?

-

I met up with Becky today to pay a visit to our previous church, after THREE plus years of not being there! I think we shocked a lot of people and even had a couple of the musicians on stage waving to us as we walked in. Haha! Very cool to meet up with all our old friends and find out what had happened since we were away. Seems like a trend to have intra-church relationships (just like it is the trend to have intra-JC or even intra-class ones)!

Everyone was nice to us and all, but I guess the long absence was a cause for some of the awkwardness. One of our closer buddies in church seemed completely stunned into silent shyness when the 2 of us bustled up to her enthusiastically half-screaming ... She was so strangely quiet and I could hardly hear the few words she mumbled to us and ... I don't know. It was a little weird, after the initial "HELLOOOO it's youuu!!!"s the novelty died off and I guess we're just no longer part of that family anymore.

We went with a bunch of friends to a snooker room / arcade. I played Daytona for the first time, screamed my lungs out every time I smashed into the barriers (ie. I was constantly screaming), and ended up last out of the 3 of us. Exciting.

We were known in church as Bim and Bo some years back (no idea who's Bim and who's Bo though) so we figured some photographic evidence was due.

Went over to her house for a while, and the rest decided to play pool again (oh those addicts) so we crossed the road to her OTHER (condo) house which had a pool room. Saw the very jaccuzi that caused the German dude to drown ): Do you remember reading that in the papers quite some time ago? I thought it was awfullly sad.

Sleepy to the core, and reluctant to play pool with the others. So we left them there happily pool-ing away, and went for a walk. For which I am very thankful, because we ended up kicking off our heels and having a crazy fun time at the playground making friends with little kiddos! 2 Koreans and a big bunch of Aussies. They were SO CUTE omg and we had so much fun amusing them and ourselves. The kids ended up showing off their acrobatic skills to us and laughing at these 2 big jiejies who couldn't shimmy up poles or flip over bars, we had lots of races which involved us huffing and huffing about the 'race course', we chitchatted to the kids about kiddy things, and then there was hide and seek.

Perhaps this is really cliched but I really miss being a kid. It's so easy to make them laugh, and they're just so simple and unassuming and bluntly genuine, no pretence, no airs, no facades.

Becky and I packed like sardines in a purple tube thing, during a game of hide & seek.

The seeker found us, and obliged when I asked her for a photo! Such a cutie (:

Amusing conversation of the day -

(I was squatting under the BBQ pit above Aussie kid, because we were sharing a hiding spot.)

Aussie kid: There are ants at your feet.
Me: Ahhhh! (waddles away while trying to stay out of sight)
Aussie kid: (giggle) I can see your knickers!
Me: (giggle) I can see yours too!

(Whereupon the both of us rearranged our skirts and recovered our modesty.)

Everyone should go and make friends with kids. You can do and say all sorts of ridiculous things and they will laugh :D and you will laugh :D and the best part is when they tug on your hand and beg you to play with them. Heehee feel so loved :D

Anyway I'm so glad for Becky because even after all these years, when meeting old friends can become somewhat awkward, it's nice to know that some things don't change. Some friendships sour when left aside for too long, but for others, slipping back and comfortably picking up from where you last left off is easy as pie. If only it could always be like that!

If you can't tell, today was a Good Day for me (: Much love <3 to pretty Becky who will probably never see this.

I need to meet up with lots of people, but it's so difficult nowadays, seeing that everybody's always so busy, myself included. Please call me for a date thank you very much. (:

*291 - e.brew

So, my life has been revolving around work and dance. Work: waitressing & earrings. Dance: Jazz & Lyrical. Work AND dance: Asian dance performances.

Life is good, because I love everything I do. (:

Work is great, maybe because the people who work with me are fantastic people. Everyone's young and friendly and full of spunk, bosses included - I'm not sure if any of the staff are above 30 years old! I'm happy because I'm learning so much about service, and I'm meeting lovely people, and the atmosphere is really casual and friendly (as opposed to being stiff or posh or scary). It's really fun interacting with customers too (and getting flirted at now and then HAHA) and trying to make their visit special, because that's what service is all about, isn't it? Plus! I haven't broken anything, I haven't been scolded, AND I haven't critically injured anyone. Accomplishment. (: Hahaha.

And the perks of the job are pretty good, heh heh. We get a free meal every time we work, and the cooks are pretty darn good! We get to select a drink from the menu as well, so I'm slowly working my way through the menu. They often send us random bits of food to munch on whenever we're free (so far that has included items like a slab of salmon, mini chopped up bits of sandwiches, chicken wings, brownies, nuggets, ...) and provide supper if we work late. Yes, I'm growing fat on the job, but let's not dwell on that.

Worked till 2 last night, so some of us decided to go for supper. We were unexpectedly joined by one of the bosses (with his girlfriend in tow) who treated us to drinks, and thereafter sped me all the way back home in his fancy schmancy sports car at >100km/h. Ooh. And previously, I had been getting lifts home also from this really nice guy Jacob even though he lives far, far away from me. AIYOH so paiseh! But so nice of them (:

Anyway, went to sleep at about 5 am yesterday, dragged myself out of bed at 10 and got to work 15 mintues late. Boss spotted me trying to sneak in and laughed because during supper the previous night I was assuring him that I would be able to wake up in time. Whoopsies. Did manual labour upstairs for a few hours (preparing for a buffet function), served downstairs for a few hours (I met friends from RJ who were having a class outing!), slaved at the dishwasher for a while (the person who washes dishes decided to quit so we have to do it ourselves now) and zombied my way home.

I'm so tired but I'm happy. And, I got to talk to Justin for ages and ages today, wheee. (: One more week and I'll finally see him again! Time flies when you're busy.

19 January, 2007

*290 - buzzzz (busy as a bumblebee)

The last dismal entry is not to worry about because honestly doesn't have much to do with my life. Hahaha. Don't worry babes! (And, um, hunks? But (sadly) none of those have expressed concern, so. Hahaa.)

I've been busy.

I haven't quite had a second to myself, so much so that I haven't actually been physically around to churn out my usual once-or-twice a day entries. And that is saying a lot, considering that during the prelims or A levels period, I was blogging more than regularly. Haha whoops.

In fact, I've gotta head out of the house again in a while because I'm working from 7 pm to 2 am today! Work is awesome fun, to be honest, all the rush and panic and fatigue included, and one good thing is that I haven't broken anything or injured anyone yet (:

If you ever want to eat at EssentialBrew, let me know beforehand because if I'm working at that time, I can get you a 10% discount! I don't work at the same time every day, I sort of let them know my schedule and they work around it very nicely, so it differs from week to week. Drop me a message.

Muah muah, gotta run!

18 January, 2007

*289 - rrrrr

I don't think I can take this for much longer.

16 January, 2007

*288 - i see so much magic

While packaging earrings into their envelopes, I was wondering why my scissors didn't seem to be working well, so I ran my thumb across it in a bid clean off any dirt that was making it blunt, and most ironically ended up slicing my thumb and leaving a trail of blood on an unsuspecting customer's envelope. (Well, it looks like a smear of chocolate so I guess that's okay.)

Finished up the Tibetan dance yesterday. I often feel a little disappointed after laoshi's practices because I sense she doesn't like the way I dance. Shrug. I never really felt that way until one day last year when she mentioned offhand something extremely hurtful (to me) concerning my dancing. Everyone sort of rushed to my defence and noone remembers now, probably, but. It still makes me sad when I think about it.

Ohwells let's not think sad thoughts. I'm just glad I get to dance for her anyway, and besides, it's awfully fun, plus it's satisfying to perform for kids and teach them more about dance.

Had some time after that so I trotted off to Arab Street to hunt for crystals and stones. Bead shopping is always an expensive affair - I spent more than $40 on 5 little packets, some of which contain only a couple of beads. But that's normal, and that's alright. (: Quality over quantity m'dears.

Jazz and Lyrical in the evening! Now that's the sort of dancing that makes me decidedly happy. And! She got me to demonstrate a slanty split jump with arched back thingy. And! I did consistent clean doubles on BOTH sides with good spotting! Quite unbelievable, seeing that I've always managed sloppy doubles on my left and once-in-a-while good doubles on my right, and NEVER spotting on the second turn. Personal achievement, yay. (I suspect it had something to do with me not using rosin hence my shoes were exceptionally slippery but let's not consider that for now.) (I also suspect not many people know what I'm talking about hence would not share my joy.)

I'm aching all over today and that always makes me happy. Except for the fact that I think I injured my left elbow even more yesterday doing pushups, but never mind.

I just finished lunch at 2, and I will have to have dinner at 4 plus to get to work by 6. Yes I said 'work'. It's my first day (night?) today and I'm mighty excited (: Noone is allowed to visit me yet though, until I ascertain how good/awful I am at waitressing. Heehee. At your own risk.

Enchanted by Jamie Cullum yet again (: I'm such a fan.

When I look back on my ordinary, ordinary life,
I see so much magic, though I missed it at the time.

*287 - soup

Lunched and churched with Desmond today! (: I was very attracted to the bread bowls at The Soup Spoon because they were reminiscent of San Francisco & Fisherman's Wharf, so that's what we ate!

Cute right!!! (I am referring to the bread bowls.) (Ok sorry I'm kidding Desmond, if you do happen to see this.) Also, check out my New Hair hahaha.

I think I embarrassed him by asking the ang moh next to us to help take the photo because that is an extremely touristy thing to do. Haha!

A tip for anyone who wants to eat there: 2 people cannot finish 2 bread bowls. Or maybe it was just us being not-very-hungry to begin with? Hmm.

I missed worship because I went to pee as soon as we got a spot (had to sit on the floor by the side because we were late), and because of the toiletful of ladies waiting to pee, by the time I got back in worship was over! Hahaha.

Service was good and left me with a warm fuzzy feeling in my heart because my Daddy in heaven loves me (:

Collected laoshi's DVD from Kristine. She left, we walked around a little, couldn’t find what he wanted to buy, missed a bus because neither of us bothered to flag it (haha!), froze in the bus on the way home, had laksa for dinner, and proceeded to watch said DVD. Learnt the Tibetian dance from the DVD, as instructed to by laoshi. I have to say, learning dances from your computer screen is not easy at all. I was skipping and stomping and flailing around like a crazy Tibetian woman and I only stopped when my favourite boy called and at the rate we are going his phone bills are going to rocket sky high.

I had a lot to say, but I think all my brain juices have been drained into my Last Application Essay which I just submitted (which is why the above paragraph was in almost-point-form) so hooray I am donedonedone with the dratted University Applications and this is a cause for celebration, hence I shall go to sleep immediately, especially seeing that I have a tiring day ahead of me tomorrow.

G'night folks (:

*286 - Nokia hair

Yes, the Raffles PE tee features regularly in my outfits at home. Very fashionable and hip, I know.

So, 5 inches of hair chopped off!

I didn't know what to do with my hair so I told the lady to please "anyhow cut my fringe I dunno what I want it to look like maybe cut a short one anything will do EXCEPT for the China doll type please".

So that's what she did, and I screamed as she sliced off my fringe because it was SO SHORT omg.

(And, irrelevantly: She said I have a baby face! Must be those darned chubby cheeks.)

Where has my fringe gone?!

The most hilarious thing was that she ended up cutting my hair to look just like her own so at the end of it the both of us looked the same. HAHA. My fringe is cropped off at a sharp angle on the right and slopes gradually downwards on the left.

And this, to my amusement/horror is what happens when I comb my hair straight downwards!

I shall experiment :D How fun!

12 January, 2007

*285 - rainyday

It's been rainy.

The rain turns the grass into a pond.

The rain turns the sandpit into a swimming pool.

The rain turns the field into a giant birdbath.

Also, I cut my hair and I look like a Nokia 7610. HAHAHA. Really, you know. I think it's hilarious. Hahahaha.

*285 - where boys become men

Chopped garlic on the bus stop seat. Can someone offer a logical explanation for that?

That was the day before Justin enlisted, therefore it was a day exclusively devoted to Justin. Haha! We watched Night at the Museum which was cute and funny in a lil kid way, predictable at times, but generally pretty entertaining.

I gave Justin his goodbye present from me - a personalised NS kit! I individually wrapped every item and wrapped them all up in a couple more layers. Perhaps because that was extremely reminiscent of the very first present I gave to him in my life, which was in primary school for his birthday, together with Jingwen (do you remember)! Hahaha.

Unwrapping the first layer of his NS kit.

Shopped around a little for the rest of the NS-related stuff he needed like prickly heat powder, looked around at digital cameras for me (someone PLEASE recommend me a good camera I desperately need one because the one I have is ancient and very sucky), met a customer who 'knew' me from school but I didn't recognise her at all which was slightly embarrassing, etc etc.

The last photo taken in which Justin has lovely long hair!

Went over to his place the following day to exclaim at his fuzzy nearly-botak head, and to eat lunch, and to discover that "slippers and sandals are strictly not allowed", so I ended up wearing Justin's dad's sport shoes. I felt awfully uncool but I don't suppose anyone cared, haha. So father, mother, grandpa, grandma, botak son, and girlfriend piled into the car and off we went to Tekong.

We spotted lots of RJC boys enlisting at the same time. Which includes Arjun but sadly Justin and Arjun are in different companies. Justina (Just and Nina actually, but if you say 'Just and Nina' really fast and slur your words together then it becomes 'Justina') and Senthil were there too, together with Arjun's dad, under the pretext of being Arjun's "family/relatives". 2 Chinese kids, 1 Indian kid, 1 Greek/Indian/dunnowhatelse hybrid, and a cool angmoh father with a ponytail makes a very interesting family indeed.

Went for a tour and the ceremony and blah blah - it was pretty interesting and within the one hour that the boys were taken away from their families they had already been trained and regimentalised. "YES SIR!!!" "We will defend the nation blahblah ... WITH OUR LIFE!!!"

Had lunch (food not bad leh) with Justin and family one final time, one last hug and a few minutes of sobbing, and then we left.

"Where Boys become Men"! :D

I'm sure Justin's going to have fun in NS, it seems like the sort of thing he might enjoy, at least. At any rate, he's fit and strong and speedy as lighting haha. I will miss youuuuu. <3 <3 <3

What was heartening yesterday was that Justin's grandparents were looking after me as if I were the oldie, and his parents were looking after me as if I were Christine. (Ok maybe not that bad.)

Justin's Mummy: Now I must look after you since Justin's not here to look after you anymore.

Justin's Mummy: (later) Tonight when Justin calls, don't worry I won't talk too long, so he can call you and talk to you longer after that!

Hahaha cute right? (: His parents sent me all the way to Waterloo Street after that in the pouring rain. So thankful.

Helped laoshi out with odd jobs (like splashing in the rain to buy fried rice for everybody) and also helped with ticketing. Her company's having a performance, and it's really interesting because it's an open concept where the audience sits in the very room that the dancers are performing in. Came home and died of exhaustion, hence last night's post.

So that was my past 2 days. Today was meant to be a day of sloth, but I think I will have to drag myself out and waste $2 travelling to and from the post office to deliver some earrings.

*284 - revelation! period = tired

I always heard that having your period makes you tired.

For the first time ever, I realise that it is unbelievably, agonizingly true.

I've been out from 10 to 10, and I look as haggard as I feel. Pounding headache, zombie-like expression, dizziness, sprouting of pimples, et cetera.

Also, I miss the boy already but I will hear from him and see him again soon. I know I sound it but I'm not so much depressed as I am exhausted. I feel like collapsing into bed, with soggy jeans (from the rain) and stinky top, but I suppose I shall drag myself off to bathe in a bit.

Tomorrow shall be a stay at home and do absolutely nothing that requires moving day. (Except for perhaps my fingers, I think I might be able to make an exception for them.) Sounds perfect.

10 January, 2007

*283 - hard rock cafe

I know how to do Tibetian dance now. Teeheehee. A lot of cute head waggling and vigorous stepping around, and flailing of arms with long flowy sleeves. On to Thai dance next week! Such a crazy rush. I hope we can master everything in time - we've only got a few weeks left till our first performance. Hahaha what fun.

And, wj's thinking of contemporary pas de deux!!! My my wouldn't that be exciting! :D

Cabbed to Orchard after dance. It was too early to meet the class, but it was too late to go home. So I walked around and bought random things off the shelves, and about an hour before I was supposed to meet the class, Lizhan found me by a stroke of luck and we discovered that the both of us had been walking around in the same shopping mall buying random things off the shelves. We settled at some cafe, were joined by Joel, and were fashionably late for the class outing.

Perhaps it was the last class outing, or at least, the last one in a long time to come, seeing that a large proportion of the boys will be stuck in camp from this week. It wasn't a very good setting for interaction (we were at Hard Rock Cafe) because it was so noisy in there that I could only carry out decent conversations with the people right next to me. At one point I was hollering at Joel and wondering if it would be better if I called him and we talked on the phone instead.

Had a nice time catching up with some friends, so that was good. Shared a starter with Jon and Tubby, and shared honey something something pork chops with Jon. Nice food. (:

I'm very into the captioning-of-photographs thing at the moment, if you haven't noticed. Hahaha I feel like a bimbo.

08 January, 2007

*282 - every 8th of the month is a good day

Two more days.

I will miss you <3

*281 - dance class

Yo, yo.

Check out Maddy and I and our cool (and very tall) dance friends.

(No, that's not where we take classes actually. But this is us in our dance attire, right after dance, one level below the studios, with absolutely nobody in sight to watch us take our silly photos. I think.)

Classes have only been getting more fun, now that I'm getting to know more of the dancers, and getting used to Samantha's style. Today I'm aching all over from the 2 hours of dance after not dancing for 2 weeks. Even touching my toes hurts, omg.

Feels good though. (:

The only problem is that I have to leave for laoshi's dance in a while and it's not that good to let laoshi see me in my aching, stiffened state.

*280 - swimming lessons

Who wants private/group swimming lessons from Sandha The Very Pro Swimmer? (Ask your little brother! Sister! Mummy also can!)

Email Sandhya at zedder_sandz@hotmail.com for more details :D

*279 - latte lovin'

Yes, I changed my layout on impulse. (Beautiful dancer as she is, I was getting a little tired of Polina and the general pink bimboticness of my blog.)

Doodled a mug of coffee while trying to think of what the heck to write in my last application essay, thought it would be quite befitting as a layout, it being latte love and all, so, tadaa! (: Constructive criticisms, anyone? Do you like my coffee beans?

As always, there is a necessity, albeit an embarrassing one, to look back at your previous layouts and reminisce (and cringe at your earlier efforts) whenever you change your layout. So here they are again:

v1. Under The Waves

v2. Come Away With Me

v3. Butterfly

v4. Polina

There is a trend, you know. Every time, I make the column for the posts wider - I have more to say nowadays.

All made from scratch by my very own self, by tinkering around with Photoshop, a bit of Dreamweaver & struggling (manually) with the dratted HTML codes.

05 January, 2007

*278 - let me make YOUR day (:

I mentioned in one of my application essays concerning service that making somebody's day makes my day.

I don't think any of our customers realise it, but whenever they drop a quick email back to tell us how happy they are with their stuff, they totally make ME happy too!

I mean, how can you not feel warm and fuzzy inside when you get this in your inbox: "... wheee! it totally made my day especially since i had a not that great one. upon seeing the mail i immediately chucked my bag and tore it open! ... thank you sooo much again."

Or this! "... Really want to thank you for sending the earrings through registered mail and also for your thoughtful gesture of giving me an extra pair of earrings. I will definitely recommend your site to my friends. Keep up the good work! :)"

Now that's the satisfaction I get out of this whole business thing. The profits aren't too high to be honest, and there are some times when we get crazy stressed by the truckloads of earrings we have to produce, plus all the other business/earrings-related woes we have, but making people happy keeps me going. (:

Cliched? Yes, no doubt about it - but it's true (:

04 January, 2007

*277 - cough

Farewell, student concession. Remember to tap your ezlink cards when alighting! I easily spent $10 plus on transport alone in 2 measly days. Ugh.

-

Someone should really educate the old folks about hygiene. I stood waiting at the bus stop with sour waves of disgust washing over me as I watched an old man stop at a pillar, carefully blow out gooey mucus onto the floor, leave a long trail of goop on the pillar when wiping his fingers clean, and cough phlegm onto the ground. The lady next to me walked over to give him tissue, but he didn't know how to open the packet, and finally threw it to the ground.

I should have been the one to teach him what to do, but prissy me didn't dare to go near the trails of mucus and phlegm. This doesn't happen too often because we're living in clean and green Singapore, but it still does.

(Like the time I watched an old man on the bus repeatedly cough out phlegm, spit it on the floor in front of him, and smear it around with his slipper. Or the time I watched an old man pee in his seat in the bus, forming rivers of pee that ran from the front to the back and from side to side every time the bus moved.)

To be honest I'm not really thinking about the germs right now, I'm just thinking about the fact that I could very well have TOUCHED it and ... ugh. Squirm. Not. Pleasant.

I was thinking, maybe next time I'll arm myself with tissues galore and walk up to the person and tell him/her what to do ... but someone has to prepare a speech in Chinese for me first. Evidently, from the below post, I have erased all vestiges of Chinese from my head and I have immense difficulty stringing words together to form a coherent sentence.

Arts Education Program. It's great, because we're getting exposure to different types of Asian dances (Korean, Tibetian, Japanese, etc), we're getting stage experience, we're teaching little kids about dances from around Asia, and all that would be good enough for me but guess what, we're even getting paid!

Pretty excited (:

Let's just hope laoshi doesn't kick me out after watching my disastrous imitation-Tibetian dancing, or whatever it going to be.

(I'm still pretty miffed though, that she laughed at me when I said I was going to do waitressing. Well I guess I could have found an office job or something more scholarly, but I want to learn more about service and dealing with customers.)

*276 - pictionary woes

Played Pictionary with the ruggers.

I wrote 'ren2' wrongly. As in, Mandarin for 'people', almost the simplest Chinese word on earth, the very first word you probably learnt to write after 'yi1'.

Oh.

My.

Goodness.

(No wonder it looked a little funny.)

HAHAHAHA.

(To explain, I was trying to draw "Lost In Translation". So I wrote 'ren2' --> people for the "Translation" bit, only that I wrote 'ru4' instead. Go figure. Hahahahaha.)

*275 - amateur rollerbladers

(Eh spelling error. HAHA.)

*273 - twenty oh seven

:D Geeky spectacles - very stylish.

How I spent the first day of 2007:

Waking up late (by my standards, which means 9.30)
Eating
Slothing around
Helping to make chicken pie (a bit lah)
Eating
Whipping up alcoholic drinks
Making earrings
Slothing around
Having surprise visitors (Daddy's cousins I think)
Slothing around online
Eating
Slothing around
Making earrings
Juicy (& touching, actually) gossip session with Mummy

And here I am. Slothing around online again.

This bodes well for 2007 :D Bring it on!

Now that's a bit of incentive for you to dig out the camera and start snapping (:
