Today was our Fruity Tooty You Tea Party! Hosted by Maddy and I, for the "You" dancers. (:
We had such an awfully fun time preparing for the tea party, from making our extremely cool invitations to toiling in the kitchen to getting fat eating our own goodies!
The invitations, beautifully coloured by Maddy! We sent them off in big A4 envelopes with typed addresses and marked with their full names to scare them into thinking it was important stuff from NUS or something, which worked for some hahaha. I think it's really funny how Iris' dad handed her the letter "from NUS" and watched as she pulled out a grape from the envelope instead.
Preparations started 2 days before, and I made my yummy raspberry thumbprints while Maddy made her yummy cranberry oatmeal cookies. Had to stop myself from eating all the thumbprints up because they were seriously really yummy.
Went over to Maddy's place early in the morning and then our baking frenzy began. It was damn exciting and involved a lot of "ok I peel the apple for you GO SAVE THE CRUMBLES", "MY SCONES ARE BURNING ok they aren't but OMG THEY'RE BURNING NOW", "DISASTER, THIS TASTES WEIRD", "HELP EVERYONE'S COMING ALREADY" etc etc. Really, really fun :D
Of course, we had our lunch break where we whipped up quick and fuss free pasta. (Irrelevantly, I love how the ham is so sweetly pink and matches with the sauce.)
See what I mean about the colour coordinated pasta?
Anyway, on the fruity tooty menu was: raisin scones with low fat strawberry jam, apple crumble, peach banana kiwi cherry apricot cupcakes, fruity chocolate fondue (which didn't really work because the chocolate didn’t melt well), raspberry thumbprints, cranberry cookies, dragonfruit with honey, berry & lemongrass (not together of course) tea with lemon slices.
And everyone dressed up! :D Iris with her green grape dress, Amy with her banana-yellow top, Beatrice with her mangosteen purple spag, Evie with her strawberry red top with black seedy buttons and a marvellous green leafy headpiece, Xinqin with her sexy watermelon pink top, Maddy with her spectacular durian hairband and matching green top and yellow skirt, me with my dragonfruit outfit (bright pink top and white hairband with black polkadots and matching belt), and Sarah who misread our instructions and dressed as a fruit platter (oranges and cherries) instead of her fruit but it was cute anyway. (Especially observe Evie's and Maddy's headpieces, and Amy's banana-face in the above photo.)
There weren't many leftovers (surprisingly), just a handful of scones and some cupcakes, so we walked down the lane to pass Sinni the rest of the cupcakes (no surprise there, we made nearly 60!!).
Teehee we had a lot a lot of fun, and I hope everyone enjoyed themselves as much as we did! I even went home and ate dinner after all those calories omg I am such a glutton.
Awfully tired from rushing around really madly over the past few days, so tomorrow morning I finally get to wake up late and bum around until it's time for work in the evening. Actually, there are quite a few things I have to do and I might have to make a trip out of the house and back to post earrings and letters and money to the taxi driver (long story) and omg time to sleep.
