My favourite cooking buddy (ie. Jingwen) came over and we cooked up a storm. First came a simple lunch which took only a few moments to whip up - pea soup (used to be clam chowder but thanks to our generous addition of peas, the clam chowder was overpowered), cajun fish, bread. And oranges for fibre after that, haha.
And then the baking frenzy began. We were being ambitious and ended up rushing to make three different things at the same time. We thought we could manage because all the recipes had a 'chill for one hour' somewhere, but everything turned into a whirlwind of activity.
And in the midst of everything, disaster struck ...
No lah bluff you. They were actually fogging the area, and we had to stuff plates of food into the fridge for protection and rush to the nooks and crannies of my house to gulp down the fresh air there.
Final product #1:
A little too much cookie and not enough blackcurrant filling, but that was because putting too much would cause the filling to squish out of the cookie. But it tasted nice enough. (:
And spot our cute retro polkadot cookies!
Final product #2:
Very normal, which I suppose is better than it being bad, just that it wasn't terrifically scrumptious, which was a disappointment in itself, if you know what I mean. But for all the disasters that happened along the way, we should just be thankful that it was edible, hehehe.
Final product #3:
Very rich chocolate cream centers, with just the right amount of cookie shell. Yum yum yummy.
The best of the lot, in my opinion! I wanted to give the heart shaped cookie to somebody, make him bite into it in front of me, and then flop dramatically onto the ground writhing and clutching my chest screaming "YOU BROKE MY HEART!!", but I didn't in the end.
