*285 - where boys become men

Chopped garlic on the bus stop seat. Can someone offer a logical explanation for that?

That was the day before Justin enlisted, therefore it was a day exclusively devoted to Justin. Haha! We watched Night at the Museum which was cute and funny in a lil kid way, predictable at times, but generally pretty entertaining.

I gave Justin his goodbye present from me - a personalised NS kit! I individually wrapped every item and wrapped them all up in a couple more layers. Perhaps because that was extremely reminiscent of the very first present I gave to him in my life, which was in primary school for his birthday, together with Jingwen (do you remember)! Hahaha.

Unwrapping the first layer of his NS kit.

Shopped around a little for the rest of the NS-related stuff he needed like prickly heat powder, looked around at digital cameras for me (someone PLEASE recommend me a good camera I desperately need one because the one I have is ancient and very sucky), met a customer who 'knew' me from school but I didn't recognise her at all which was slightly embarrassing, etc etc.

The last photo taken in which Justin has lovely long hair!

Went over to his place the following day to exclaim at his fuzzy nearly-botak head, and to eat lunch, and to discover that "slippers and sandals are strictly not allowed", so I ended up wearing Justin's dad's sport shoes. I felt awfully uncool but I don't suppose anyone cared, haha. So father, mother, grandpa, grandma, botak son, and girlfriend piled into the car and off we went to Tekong.

We spotted lots of RJC boys enlisting at the same time. Which includes Arjun but sadly Justin and Arjun are in different companies. Justina (Just and Nina actually, but if you say 'Just and Nina' really fast and slur your words together then it becomes 'Justina') and Senthil were there too, together with Arjun's dad, under the pretext of being Arjun's "family/relatives". 2 Chinese kids, 1 Indian kid, 1 Greek/Indian/dunnowhatelse hybrid, and a cool angmoh father with a ponytail makes a very interesting family indeed.

Went for a tour and the ceremony and blah blah - it was pretty interesting and within the one hour that the boys were taken away from their families they had already been trained and regimentalised. "YES SIR!!!" "We will defend the nation blahblah ... WITH OUR LIFE!!!"

Had lunch (food not bad leh) with Justin and family one final time, one last hug and a few minutes of sobbing, and then we left.

"Where Boys become Men"! :D

I'm sure Justin's going to have fun in NS, it seems like the sort of thing he might enjoy, at least. At any rate, he's fit and strong and speedy as lighting haha. I will miss youuuuu. <3 <3 <3

What was heartening yesterday was that Justin's grandparents were looking after me as if I were the oldie, and his parents were looking after me as if I were Christine. (Ok maybe not that bad.)

Justin's Mummy: Now I must look after you since Justin's not here to look after you anymore.

Justin's Mummy: (later) Tonight when Justin calls, don't worry I won't talk too long, so he can call you and talk to you longer after that!

Hahaha cute right? (: His parents sent me all the way to Waterloo Street after that in the pouring rain. So thankful.

Helped laoshi out with odd jobs (like splashing in the rain to buy fried rice for everybody) and also helped with ticketing. Her company's having a performance, and it's really interesting because it's an open concept where the audience sits in the very room that the dancers are performing in. Came home and died of exhaustion, hence last night's post.

So that was my past 2 days. Today was meant to be a day of sloth, but I think I will have to drag myself out and waste $2 travelling to and from the post office to deliver some earrings.
