I mentioned in one of my application essays concerning service that making somebody's day makes my day.
I don't think any of our customers realise it, but whenever they drop a quick email back to tell us how happy they are with their stuff, they totally make ME happy too!
I mean, how can you not feel warm and fuzzy inside when you get this in your inbox: "... wheee! it totally made my day especially since i had a not that great one. upon seeing the mail i immediately chucked my bag and tore it open! ... thank you sooo much again."
Or this! "... Really want to thank you for sending the earrings through registered mail and also for your thoughtful gesture of giving me an extra pair of earrings. I will definitely recommend your site to my friends. Keep up the good work! :)"
Now that's the satisfaction I get out of this whole business thing. The profits aren't too high to be honest, and there are some times when we get crazy stressed by the truckloads of earrings we have to produce, plus all the other business/earrings-related woes we have, but making people happy keeps me going. (:
Cliched? Yes, no doubt about it - but it's true (:
