*593 - naked beast, fantastic hair, snow

Aww, surprise McGriddle turning up at my doorstep!! Yay, I'm so touched :) Thank you!!

-

Dreamt of Meredith & co last night. Hehe. Which reminded me very much of our awesome Explorations class and the improvised performance we came up with. Nothing choreographed, just following the storyline and letting the music take us where it wanted to that night. 3 nights of performances, 3 different dances.

Ben, the naked wild acrobatic beast;
Meredith, the little imp who first owns the beast but loses control of it;
Debbie, the sexy seductress who yields the (real) whip and (really) whips the beast;
Yu Tao, the Asian kungfu master who fights with and ties up the beast;
Evelyn, the healer who ends up stripping the beast butt-naked and taking control of it with the girls at the end.

It all snowballed one day during class, when we were improvising to live music one by one, and Ben suddenly leaped out from behind the curtains stark naked during his turn and started doing naked acrobatics. Jim brought in props and skanky costumes and that's how our performance took shape.

(By the way, Ben enjoys getting whipped. In case you were worrying. He was full of red welts and some blood by the end of the 3 performances.)

YK: Oh! You're performing tonight?
Me: Um, I think you better not go.

Not for the conservative or weak-hearted.

To end things off on a refreshingly childish note, here are more pictures from the fabulous Spring Break. 4 kids who lovingly styled each other's hair with mountains of PRODUCT (inside joke), squashed in the bathtub together to take photos, and went out to a nice restaurant for dinner looking like that.

Joel, the severely windswept;
Kenneth, the feeler-ed robot;
Joshua, the octopus;
Evelyn, the braided and pinned and puffed.

This trip brought out everyone's gay tendencies to the max. And everyday, we would find something to sculpt obscene figurines with. The wonders of orange peel, bananas, unfinished steak, whipped cream, snow ...

(Hahaha how terribly childish. Remember how we had to hastily throw away all the something-shaped orange peel when the cleaning lady appeared at the door?)

Emo-ing on the window
(What was all that blue stuff outside??)

*592 - starbucks

Sitting here with a half cup of melted mocha frap and my dear lappie. Breathing in the freedom of my First Monday With No Work. Feeling awfully smug.

Shall head off soon to my first ballet lesson in, what, twenty thousand years?! I even bought new cheapo ballet shoes for the occasion (well, mostly because my shoes are sitting in a box in Ithaca). They're embarassingly squeaky-clean; maybe I'll secretly rub them on the floor before I use them later so that they'll look a little used.

I'm mildly embarrassed because I stole the precious power point to charge my lappie from the boy next to me who stole it from the boy next to him who was charging his lappie so that he could charge his handphone. Just mildly.

(45% charged.)

I'm also feeling accomplished because I made apple tarts yesterday which tasted awesome - the best part is that we didn't follow a recipe, but just made them randomly! Pastry, stobeli jam, apple slices, cinnamon and brown sugar, walnuts, stobeli glaze, popped into the oven at random temperature for random amount of time. And the pastry puffed prettily :)

Yum. All 8 tarts, gone in a jiffy!

(52% charged.)

*591 - BUTS

Pictures from last Saturday. Chillout session at my place, followed by a picnic at Ballet Under The Stars. As always, I drooled over the male dancers because their leaps! Are amazing! They stay suspended in the air! For a long, long time!

Apart from that, it was pretty nice, just that the excerpts were a little too short - just as you're getting immersed into the dance, it's ending. But I suppose that's how they keep the audience on their toes.

Teeny pink butterflies

This reminded us of Lush.
Mum said it's called the Peacock Flower. (It is! I checked!)

The Food

Dragonfruit, pierced with meh-meh

We Rock

The Pebbles of Pain that only grannies can conquer

More rock formations
(Kenneth actually managed 6, but the composition of that photo wasn't nearly half as good, so I'm settling for this less impressive but prettier photograph, because that's where my priorities lie)

Oops, More Food, and BUTS

BUTS
(too far away for nice photographs, so that will be all)

My time is marked by the weekends. And it's scary to see how the weekends are flying by, one after another after another. Whoosh. This Sunday's over, and now on to another few weeks before I leave on the 3rd Sunday after this one (24 August). Wow. 3 months used to sound like a long time. This means that the next 3 months in school should past by in a flash? And the next 3? And the next? I guess life passes by in a flash, whenever you have too many things you want to do.

I just hope the right moments linger - the others can pass by in a flash for all I care.

*590 - goodbyes

Some goodbyes are hard, but some are Full Of Joy!

Today's my last day at work, and I've officially handed over my duties to the new manager trainee, and am sitting waiting for the end of the day to come where they officially strip me of my staff pass, computer, telephone line, privileges, etc, yay!

Had a goodbye breakfast of sorts with random people, a farewell lunch with F1 team, a farewell tea with the interns, and then I'll really be gone, and HELLO to 3 weeks of most disgraceful slacking!!

There's an imminent goodbye I'm not looking forward to, though ...

*589 - update on The Toe

It seems like the tissue between the detached toenail and my toeflesh has regenerated and sealed Toenail & Toeflesh together again! How odd!

*588 - back with a boom

We're back!!

ELISA & EVELYN

Meh meh.

-

Today, I accidentally tore half my toenail off and was bleeding unceremoniously in the bus, all alone, with nary a tissue! I stuck the detached nail back on with 3 layers of plasters and went off merrily after work for dance class.

But now, I don't dare to remove the plasters for fear of ripping the entire nail off :O !

Shall end this abruptly, like thus.

*587 - new earrings

1. Dashing danglies, designed mostly by Kenneth (who is a lot more artistic than me), printed and cut and carefully sanded down to size. You'll never find these designs anywhere else - if you do, they must've copied us!! Heehee ;) Fully customisable too!

2. Smashing studs, handmade with little pieces of funky fabric. One-of-a-kind, because I can't get the same fabric anymore. Cut out a chunk of your favourite shirt and I'll make it into a pair of earrings for you! (Heh just kidding, but you can if you want.)

Coming sooooon! (:
(Sooooon meaning whenever I find the time to upload all the photos onto E&E.)

Whee! Excited!

*586 - same difference

6 inches worth of dead trees and 1 week's worth of frantic work gone to waste. So much for my efforts. After all, it doesn't matter if you waste a week of a mere intern's life away and contribute to global warming at the same time, does it?

Work has been mildly more interesting as of late, ever since I stopped getting work from C and A started entrusting me with more important tasks. Now I actually liaise directly with the F1 stakeholders and government bodies instead of printing and stapling and scheduling for meetings.

(But I am now quite the expert with secretarial tasks! Watch me as I operate the hole-puncher, with such startling alacrity! Watch me as I coddle the jammed-up printer back to life! Watch me as I wield my stapler and fasten documents in the blink of an eye!)

-

It's as though life in Singapore was put on hold for the 9 months I was away. When I came back, I just hit 'play', and everything started rolling again.

It's surprisingly normal to be back. Settling down and turning everything into routine is oddly easy. Sitting down at a brand new dining table in a brand new house with a brand new Ipa and the same everyone else. Chilling on the rooftop last night with the Tutti Frutti's and feeling like it was just a week ago since we last met. Waking up early for work and wasting my time away like I've been doing that my whole life (please, God, no). Trooping down for Sam's classes and meeting Mel Yihui Aster and reuniting with Weicheng Aunties Flexigirl and realizing that even my jete's don't change. Meeting old friends, making new ones, doing my usual thang, trying out new stuff.

Life's strangely easy to adapt to when you're at home. Everything's changed, but everything feels the same.

And that's what I like - the comfort of being home. Everything else can change, but something intangible's always constant.

Even my most depressed days over here (trust me, I've had plenty) can't rival those over there that leave me feeling scarily hollowed out, like someone carefully scraped my insides dry with a teaspoon.

Of course, I was happi-like-never-before over there, but memories of how I used to be sad-like-never-before scare me. (I don't wanna leave again.)

2 hours to go. 2 hours to the weekend!! :D

*585 - carrot cake

I made carrot cake! For daddy's birthday (: And it was a hit! Huge cake gobbled up in just 2 days.

With Ipa, Mum, and Sis helping to grate 3 cups worth of fresh carrots, it wasn't that much of an ordeal either. Plus I had my artsy architect to help with the frosting, so the cake turned out really pretty (:

Also, daddy is the most precise cake-cutter ever. No kidding.

*584 - white non-christmas

Now that I'm back sizzling in the sun and humidity of our little island, wintry Ithaca seems like a distant dream from a long, long time ago. How did we survive the -25 degree cold??

Down-filled coats, puffy ski jackets, wearing 5 layers and still freezing, bracing against the burning cold, never being quite warm enough ...

... and of course, beautiful trees made of crystals, snow globe landscapes, soaring down puffy white mountains, never being quite warm enough but always toasty warm inside <3 because cold days are our days.

Bitterly cold mornings

Ice-caked cars

Branches dripping crystals

Pruning trees so they'll grow in spring!

So cold that even my poo froze

Sexy Joel?

Flying Kenneth

Just reminiscing.
Winter won't be the same again.

*583 - waffles and roses

Reliving our waffles + origami days at Gelare, only on Tuesdays, because their waffles aren't worth it otherwise.

*582 - red rose

Guess who loves me?

JOEL! :)

He's a lot sweeter now, ever since he got attached. Heehee. He gave me a carnation on my birthday too. I think flowers look nice in green bottles, against my wallpaper.
